Tonight, as I sit at my desk, inside the darkness of my home, with only my desk lamp to light my station, I am recalling just exactly what it takes to make a map! Not just any map, but the map of Spyderia! Being that I am only halfway through penning The Boondock Kids, parts of this fascinating world is just as new to me as it is for Mario, Louis, Sindy & Cristena!

Staring at my desk lamp and listening to my son, Ethan’s, cat Smokey soundly snoring, asleep at my feet, I am taken back to the year 2004. I was only 1/4 of the way through my first book, The Adventures of Marky, Slash & Levy, when I sat down at a long coffee table and began laying out the magical world of Mavenwood for, what would become, the four book series.

I can not help but smile as I recall just how intense it is to create a map, of a world, that as the author, have not completely pieced together in my own mind yet! At some points in my writing career I have just put stock in faith that it will all wash out by the books end. So far, it has worked! šŸ™‚

To say that I am excited to see what my chicken scratch will come up with is an understatement. It goes hand in hand with my writing actually. I have reached a point in TBK where I now need to now the layout of the land and the other types of creatures who live here to be able to guide Mario, Louis, Sindy & Cristena on the path to adventure! I admit, I will feel much better once this is drawn out and characters are developed fully.

So, as I get back to it for just a wee bit longer tonight, I wish you a good night and great day! Live With Passion!
